Why we built it
Most investment calculators are built for one country, hide their assumptions, or push you toward a product. We wanted something different: tools that show every assumption, work for investors anywhere, and help you think clearly about the long term — not sell you anything.
That's why Compound Years covers the questions that matter to investors outside the US as well as inside it: Irish-domiciled UCITS funds, accumulating and distributing share classes, dividend withholding tax, and investing from euros, pounds or dirhams into dollar-based funds.
Who we are
Compound Years is published by Swift Media, a marketing agency based in Lebanon. The calculators, guides and design are created by our team, combining product design with research into how long-term investing works.
How our calculators work
- Transparent maths. Each calculator explains its formula on the page. Most compound monthly at the annual return divided by 12, with contributions at the end of each month.
- Editable assumptions. Returns, fees, inflation, tax and currency moves are all inputs you control. Defaults are round, cautious planning figures — not forecasts.
- Ranges, not promises. We show lower and higher scenarios wherever it matters, because real markets don't move in straight lines.
- Private by design. Calculations run in your browser. We don't ask for accounts, and we don't need your personal details to give you a result.
We currently offer 10 calculators. See them all on the calculators page.
Where our fund data comes from
Fund details — fees, domicile, dividend policy and listings — are based on fund providers' published information. Fund details change, so each fund page shows when its data was last checked. Always confirm current figures on the provider's own factsheet before you invest.
Our editorial standards
- We explain trade-offs honestly, including when a cheaper or simpler option is the better one.
- We label assumptions as assumptions, and we never present a projection as a prediction.
- We correct errors promptly. If you spot one, tell us at hello@compoundyears.com.
- We may show advertising to keep the site free. Advertising never changes our calculations or what we write.
